Have you ever been so hot you can’t move? Maybe you started your day in a sweat, even though all you did was step from your backdoor to your car. With heat indexes in the triple digits, even a shaded carport can’t always save you from the sun’s effects.
Luckily, there are a few ways to make the heat work for you, especially in Central Arkansas. Even though we’re landlocked, Arkansas has over 600,000 acres of lakes, which provide a great way to cool off during the hottest days of summer.
In its early days, Trane changed the concept of air conditioning buildings
and established methods that are still today’s commercial standards. Officially incorporated in 1913, the company was founded in Wisconsin in 1885—giving Trane
an impressive 120-plus years of experience in home heating and air innovation. In 1885, a Norwegian immigrant named James Trane opened his own pipe and plumbing shop in La Crosse. To deal with “the cold Wisconsin winters,” James invented the Trane Vapor Heating System
, an innovative new system that operated with low air pressure to heat buildings. Trane developed and began manufacturing the System with his son Reuben, who had a degree in mechanical engineering, and the Trane Company was officially formed in 1913. Reuben invented the successful convector radiator in 1923, which worked to replace the bulky and dangerous cast-iron radiators of the time. With these early innovations, the Tranes firmly established their place as a groundbreaking new company in commercial and residential air conditioning.
